Mountain Quilters Club donations

Members wish to thank the generosity of all those who attended our 25th Anniversary 'Silver Threads and Golden Needles' quilt show and purchased tickets in our beautiful 'heritage quilt' raffle.  It gave members great pleasure to present a cheque for $3,406 to Pat Mulhall from the Sunshine Coast Community Hospice for the proceeds of the raffle. The presentation was made on 14 July at our combined Cup of Tea Party and Friendship Luncheon.

A further $231 was raised on the day through a tea cosy competition, raffle and gold coin donations by members. Entries into the tea cosy competition were overwhelming and stunning. Some cosys were made especially for the event and will be donated to SCCH to use either as a promotion for further Tea Parties or for sale in their retail outlets.

We wish the Sunshine Coast Community Hospice all the best for future fundraising as we know that their charity covers a huge void that should be addressed by local, state and federal government funding on behalf of families of the Sunshine Coast and its hinterland who are in desperate need of palliative care.

Hospice – The word hospice comes from the Latin hospitium, which originally meant the warm feeling between host and guest and later the place where this feeling was experienced – a guest house.
