$20000 received due to Nambour RSL generosity
17 Aug 10
The Sunshine Coast Community Hospice was absolutely thrilled to receive an unexpected $20,000 in July from the Nambour RSL Club. As you can see from the expression on Mo Barnes face, it was definitely not what was expected when attending the Community Grants Night at the Club.
The Sunshine Coast Community Hospice cannot thank the Nambour RSL Club enough for this generous support of our Charity, and of course the continued support they give us. We value immensely our relationship with the Club, and would encourage all supporters and friends of the Hospice to support the Nambour RSL in turn, be it attending their functions, or just going along with the family for a great meal! Without the support or organisations such as the Nambour RSL we would not be able to achieve what we have with Katie Rose Cottage, and with future Hospice support.
Nambour RSL Club $50000 Community Grants Program recipients
Suzanne Long General Manager of the RSL Services & Citizens Club
Nambour is delighted to announce the club’s second year of $50000
Community Grants Program was announced and distributed to recipients at
the Clubs Community Grants dinner last week.
In addition to the $50000 grants distribution the club also made 2
special contributions to 2 well known Sunshine Coast Not for Profit
organisations – The Sunshine Coast Community Hospice received $20000 and
Cittamani Hospice Service received $10000. These 2 organisations do
wonderful Palliative care work for the Sunshine Coast Community and
struggle to provide services to all community members that require their
assistance. The club is proud to be a major sponsor of both these
organisations. With these 2 special contributions the total
distribution on evening was $81 188.00. Peter Wellington MP attended
the evening and assisted Club President Eddie Nicholls with the
individual distribution of the grants. Suzanne stated that this
distribution is in addition to the $235 000 that the Board of Directors
of Nambour RSL Club has already approved and committed to the local
community this financial year.
The Nambour RSL Club will continue to be a provider of community based
support and provide contributions in the local area, with particular
emphasis on Sports, Welfare and Health. This will be achieved as a
result of trading profitability and contributing to Community Groups
through the provision of excellent sporting and administration
facilities, provision of equipment, signage, banners & merchandise,
cash donations, in kind support and the use of the clubs facilities and
equipment.
Suzanne stated that a full list of the 2010 Grant recipients and details
are available for viewing at www.nambourrsl.com.au. Suzanne stated
that the next round of applications close on March 31 2011, so check out
our website and why not get started on a project to submit for 2011
consideration. You never know unless you give it ago, the Nambour RSL
